The Eye

My advisor had six students at the beginning of last summer. Four of them defended over the summer. Now he has two, and I am one. That's mostly a good thing. The increased attention (read pressure) has certainly increased my progress derivative. But sometimes, mostly at night, I feel the presence of an Eye. It's an odd, self-imposed paranoia that I've developed. Hopefully it reaps fruitful benefits. And hopefully it does not lead to fiery ends akin to a more famous Eye.

In other news, registered for this conference in a sunny Mediterranean land. With the euro-dollar exchange that cost a pretty penny. Rumor has it that engineering and medical conference have spawned themselves and industry that is for-profit. I think I (or my grant, phew!) just felt that.

November

November has rolled in with a nice touch of fall. We missed that last month in my area. Coldest October on record.

That means getting to work a talk for next month, some research stuff, and that god damned Thanksgiving planning. That holiday always sneaks up on me.
